Ian Halperin, the star's biographer, had said Monday that Jackson

London: Pop legend Michael Jackson has denied that he is seriously ill and needs a lung transplant, slamming his biographer's claims to be a complete fabrication.

Ian Halperin, the star's biographer, had said Monday that Jackson, 50,is suffering from rare genetic illness, Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, as well as emphysema and gastrointestinal bleeding. He claimed that the singer can barely speak and is 95 percent blind in his left eye by the debilitating genetic condition. A spokesman for the pop star, however, has said that there is no truth to the claims, reports dailymail.co.uk.

Jackson is in fine health, and in fact finalising negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances, Jackson spokesman Tohme Tohme said in a statement Tuesday. Concerning this author's (Halperin's) allegations, we would hope in the future that legitimate media will not continue to be exploited by such an obvious attempt to promote this unauthorised biography, he added.

Amrita Rao becomes an alien due to Milap!

It appears that the year 2009 will be a real important one for Amrita Rao, the girl next door who won innumerable hearts with VIVAAH. Last year saw her as a simple village girl in Shyam Benegal's WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR and once again she got a lot of praise!

This year Amrita has three films up her sleeves, HOOK YA CROOK, VICTORY and SHORTCUT- THE CON IS ON. But there is one film that Amrita is very excited about and that is the Nikhil Advani and Mukesh Talreja production, JAANE KAHAAN SE AAYI HAI. The film is being directed by Milap Zaveri, the famous writer of hit films like MASTI, HEYY BABYY etc. And believe it or not, Amrita Rao plays an alien from outer space in the film. Since she is portraying an alien, a conscious effort has been made to make her look specially suited for the character and even her body language would be different here. She is Ruslan Mumtaz's girlfriend who plays a young superstar in the film.

The buzz doing the round is that Amrita is doing a guest appearance in the film. Amrita has agreed to do JAANE KAHAAN SE AAYI HAI because of her friendship with the director, Milap Zaveri and her character will be kept as a surprise package. The film also stars Ritesh Deshmikh, Ruslan Mumataz (Of MP3 fame), Ayesha Takia and Sonal Sehgal.

While on Milap Zaveri, while you are reading this, the MASTI and HEYY BABYY writer is all set to get married to Gouri later today (5th January 2009)! We at Glamsham wish him a happy married life!

Nachavule! review directed by Ravi Babu

Punchline: a theme film
Genre: Romance
Type: Straight
Banner: Usha Kiron Movies Cast: Tanish, Madhavi Latha, Kasi Vishwanath, Raksha, Narasimha, Naveen, Kamesh, Narayana Reddy, Prasad, Sarath Music: Sekhar Chandra
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla
Cinematography: Sudhakar Reddy
Art: Narayana Reddy
Fights: Kanal Kannan
Choreography: Nixon
Editing: Marthand k Venkatesh
Screenplay: Satyanand
Story - dialogues - direction: Ravi Babu
Producer: Ramjo Rao
Release date: 19 December 2008Story

Lav (Tanish) is a kind of guy whose aim in life is to ‘patao’ a girl. Like innumerable teenage boys, he just wants to experience the feeling of having a girl friend. Anu (Madhavi Latha) is a responsible teenage girl who works part-time in a coffee shop. Lav wants to love her, but she is not of that type. In an occasion, he saves Anu’s father. Impressed with him, she asks him to ask for any favor. Lav asks Anu to be his girl friend for 15 days. Anu agrees to it on certain conditions (no physical touch). In the process, the detached Anu falls in love with Lav. And Lav is more excited to flaunt his girl friend to his friends than actually caring for her. The rest of the story is all about how Lav realizes what’s true love is. Artists Performance Tanish is extremely talented. His dialogue delivery and ease in acting make him standout. His debut is one of the most promising debuts in this year. The guy who did the role of hero’s friend is also very natural. The actor who donned the villain role is good. Heroine Madhavi Latha is promising. This film also sports many technicians as actors. Director Kasi Viswanath (Nuvvu Leka Nenu Lenu director) did the role of hero’s father and he is cool. There is lot of comedy timing in him. Art director Narayana Reddy acted as the tonsured boy who is an assistant to villain. Writer Prasad did the role of heroine’s sadistic neighbor who keeps asking heroine’s father to look at positive side in disastrous situations. Director Sarath did another prominent role. Item girl Raksha did a nice role of hero’s mother. Technical departments Story - screenplay - direction: This film deals with the social problem of many teenage boys who just want to have a girl friend for the kick of it. It also touches the burning issue of ‘cell phone videos leakage’. Ravi Babu narrated the entire film from the hero’s point of view by making his narrate from the moment he is born. Ravi Babu has the experience of ad-film making. And he used that ad-film touch to his Allari and Soggadu (only first half). With the freedom given by Ramoji, Ravi Babu gave that touch to the entire film. There is a color pattern (green and bluish) and sophisticated humor angle. He dealt first half of the film very well. However, he could have done the last half an hour of the film (screenplay glitch) in a better way. The following comedy/creative scenes are excellent 1. The entire humor involving the kids.
2. The van episode: The Annapurna mobile van is used excellently to create a series of riotous moments in the film.
3. Hero realizes the focusing aspect by looking at a boy’s focusing on a single fruit.
4. The pick-up lines hero uses to ‘patao’ girls.
5. The use of paint dabbas by family members.
6. The hero’s plight of giving a love note in the song. The following aspects should have been dealt well 1. Crude comedy used for heroine’s father heart-attack.
2. The final episode hero-heroine-villain tussle. Other departments: The music by Sekhar Chandra (son of cinematographer Hari Anumolu) stands out. Pavu Takkuva Tommidi sung by Jassie Gift is extremely peppy and is excellently shot. The ‘black n white’ theme song with black articles fading away is very creative. Other songs also reflect the theme and mood of the film (neither forced duets nor routine songs). Cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy is very good. The art work by Narayana Reddy deserves mention. Dialogues are neat. The entire film is shot at Ramoji Film City (hence you see Margadasi advertisements in backdrop during most part of the film). Ramoji Rao should be commended for allowing Ravi Babu to shoot the entire film the way he wanted to. They stuck to a theme and followed it throughout. Analysis: : The initial half an hour of the film is excellent. First half of the film is good. Second half is adequate. The last half an hour should have been dealt better. The plus points of the film are humor and romance. On the flip side, the last half an hour should have been dealt better. On a whole, Nachavule is worth a watch for being a different flick and a theme film.

Indumathi Review directed by Ravi Babu

Punchline: humor n suspense
Genre: Thriller
Type: Straight
Banner: Geomedia Arts Cast: Shweta Bharadwaj, Sivaji, Vennela Kishore, Harsha Vardhan, Vijay Sai, Harsha, Srinivasa Reddy, Giri Babu, Ravi Prakash, Melkote, Surya Music: Anand (Mantra fame)
Cinematography: Vasu
Editing: Shankar
Art: Narayana Reddy
Story - screenplay - direction: Harsha P Reddy
Producer: Harsha P Reddy
Release date: 1 January 2009 Story

A girl (Shweta Bharadwaj) steals a couple of crores from her boss in Vizag and runs away with her boyfriend to Hyderabad. There she rents Ananda Nilayam in Gachibowli. She goes missing and her boyfriend is killed. A group of friends (Vennela Kishore, Vijay Sai and Satyam Rajesh) rent out the same place the next day. And they are visited by a psychopath (Sivaji) the next day. The rest of the story is all about who the psychopath is and what happens to the girl and the friends’ gang. Artists Performance Sivaji did the role of psychopath and he excels with good antics. His dialogues told in Telangana slang are entertaining. Vennela Kishore (Khadir from Vennela) impresses again in this film. His own dubbing (dubbing for Vennela was done by Uttej) in this film is good. He has got good comedy timing. He has the ability to do serious roles as well. Vijay Sai is another guy who seems to have become a definite actor in thriller films. His comedy is pretty good. Shweta Bharadwaj fits the bill and she did a hot scene in this film. But the real hero of the film is Harsha Vardhan (Amrutam fame). His body language in this film is pretty close to that of Vince Vaughn who played Norman Bates character in Psycho (1998). Harsha (TV9 crime watch guy) did the role of private detective. Srinivasa Reddy did a small role and he provides comedy. (disclaimer: spoilers ahead) Technical departments Story: Story of the film is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller Psycho (1960). The character of Sivaji is added to mislead the audiences and at the same time to provide the entertainment. At the same time, heroine character is not killed to show her as one of the suspects. The investigator character in Psycho is split into two characters in the film. Since it is taboo to show mother in a bad way in Telugu films, the director added a brother character to create a new premise for the death of psycho’s family members. Screenplay – direction: Screenplay of the film is little confusing. The original film Psycho is told in a linear format with the vital twist in the climax. For Indumathi, the director narrated it with a flashback format with time stamp. For a first timer, Harsha P Reddy does a decent job. He succeeded in creating humor and suspense element. But he did not narrate the story in a clear way. Though completely irrelevant to the story, he managed to hold most of the second half with the single episode of Sivaji portraying as a psychopath. But, he should have avoided a couple of bad scenes like gay comedy at the beginning and prostitute episode. Other departments: The only song in the film is good. The background score by Anand (Mantra fame) is worth commending. Cinematography of the film is neat. Some of the dialogues are nice (especially Telangana Vastunda – Vizag sim ki roaming padutunda dialogue). The producer has taken lot of care in the postproduction and it shows up on the screen. Analysis: Indumathi is a kind of film that is made with the purpose of entertainment by leaving the basic plot aside. Hence if you look for entertainment, Indumathi might satisfy you. If you look from a critic’s point of view, you will get disturbed because the plot is diluted to create entertainment. You will get slightly disappointed with ‘Indumathi’ if you had already seen ‘psycho’ (1960). There could be some entertainment value for the others.

King Review *ing Nagarjuna, Trisha, Mamta Mohandas

Banner: Kamakshi Kala Movies
Cast: Nagarjuna, Trisha, Mamta Mohandas, Srihari, Chandramohan, Venumadhav & others

Music: Devisri Prasad

Rating: 3/5

King – The most anticipated movie of Akkineni Nagarjuna is now out for all his fans to feast on. The month of December has always been considered as a lucky charm for Nag as his movies 'Manmadhudu', 'Mass', 'Don' were all Dec blockbusters. Now, it is a widely known sentiment of his among the film fraternity. On the same hope, 'King' the extravagantly made movie of 2008 got released worldwide on Christmas eve. This is the first time ever for a Nag movie to be released with the most number of prints. 'King' is an expensive highly expectant movie with a first time combination of Nagarjuna – Sreenu Vaitla & Trisha. It is produced by D.Siva Prasad Reddy on Kamakshi Kalaa Movies banner.

Here, we present a concise review on the film.

Story

The story starts off in Khairatabad area where Gyaneshwar (Srihari) is a vagagabond. The area is under his control and he's the only one authorized to do settlements upon petty issues. In comes Bottu Seenu (Nagarjuna) who is a tough competitor for the established don. The new entrant takes over his area and starts settling things on his own. This act of Bottu Seenu enrages Gynaeshwar who threatens him to get out of the place and he's the only one who is for this job. But, Bottu lends a deaf ear to his warning and carries forward. At last, Gyaneshwar has no where to go. So, as a last resort he compromises with Bottu for a 10 percent share in the profits. The deal gets done.

On a beautiful interlude in a rainy day, Bottu Seenu comes across Sravani (Trisha). He falls in love with her and makes utmost efforts to woo her heart. But, bad luck for Bottu as Sravani was already in love with a software engineer Sharath (the second Nag). Bottu gets disappointed yet a twist of fate awaits there. The girl he loved was his arch rival Gyaneshwar's sister all the time.

Gyaneshwar dotes his sister and wants a happy life for her. He knows clearly that as he is a rowdy no one respects him if not for fear. Moreover, he never got married due to his illegal business and this in turn will surely affect his sister's life too. So, to keep her away from his other world, he leaves her in the care of their aunt (Sana) and uncle (MS Narayana). Gyaneshwar keeps his identity under cover to protect his sister and stayed aloof from her.

Meanwhile, he gets to know Sharath's love for Sravani. Happy over her sister's good times, he gets them betrothed in a ceremonious occasion. Again a sudden twist reveals that Gyaneshwar has made a blunder by committing his sister with no other than the villainous Bottu Seenu. Seenu impersonates Sharath which he fails to acknowledge. So, to make things right he takes further steps to get rid off Bottu Seenu and give his sister to Sharath.

In comes the third Nag, when associates of Dasu Appaji (Jaiprakash Reddy) abducts Bottu Seenu, believing him to their 'King' Raja Chandra Varma (third Nag). They take him to assert his throne at Coimbatore Rajmahal. A whole lot of commotion and revenge prevails in the palace with Bottu in King's place. In the palace stays Pooja (Mamatha Mohandas), who awaits to take revenge on King's brother Ajay (Deepak) by murdering him.

Leaving a whole load of questions like Who's 'King'? In what way Sharath, Bottu Seenu and King related? Who's Pooja and why she is revenging against Ajay? Who does Sravani get married to? And finally Where is the real 'King'?, the plot goes forward keeping us glued to the seats. Watch 'King' to get your queries answered in the most entertaining way.

Performance of Artists

Nagarjuna is an actor whose expertise in portraying class as well as mass characters is wide known. 'King' is an apt fuel for his demeanor and bought out his versatility thoroughly in a single movie. As Bottu Seenu, he appeases the masses and the software engineer Sharath looks smart and elegant. Adding to the splendor is the 'King' Raja Chandra Varma who looks quite royal and impressive. His performance is laudable in all the three characters with his very own disparate style. In a scene, the soul of King lands into Bottu Seenu. Nagarjuna has displayed an extraordinary performance in this area with her slick acting skills. After a long gap, the audience did get to see vibrant steps in his dance moves.

Even though, he's the father of a son who is debuting as a hero into cinema, nature seems to be graceful on the actor as nothing seems to have tarnished the artists charm, looks or energy.

Trisha is acting for the first time with Nagarjuna as his heroine (actually, the heroine for all the three Nag's). She has delivered a notable performance as Srihari's sister. Mamtha Mohandas has brilliantly etched herself in the character of Pooja, which has some negative shades.

Earlier in 'Dhee' Srihari played the role of Narasimham Yadav, a character of a rowdy who speaks in Telangana accent. His character Gyaneshwar in 'King' looks like part -2 of his earlier caricature, which he wins with his hands down. Brahmanandam as copy music director JayaSurya, has feasted with comedy.

Jaiprakash Reddy as Appaji entertained well speaking in Rayalaseema accent. Shayaji Shinde as Gopi Mohan, Ajay as Bombula Kittu, Suneel as software engineer Sharath, Venu Madhav as an assistant to Srihari, last but not least Krishna Bhagavan, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Geetha, Sudha, Surekha Vani, Rajitha, Supreeth, Kelly Dorjee as Bhagath Seth, Benerjee, Srinivas Reddy, 'Chitram' Seenu, AVS, Master Bharath, Surya and others have all shared screen space with worthy performances.

Technicians Work

In combination with Sreenu Vaitla, Devi Sree Prasad earlier composed music for films like 'Anandam', 'Neekosam', 'Dubai Seenu' and 'Ready'. The tunes he composed for 'King' are the most fascinating part of the film. The re-recording has some great background scores.

Amongst the lyrics penned by Ramajogaiah Sastry and Sahithi, 'Chukka Chukka Palachukke…', 'Nuvvu Ready Nenu Ready', 'King' and the beach song are noteworthy. Story by Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan, and the dialogues written in par along with the script by BVS Ravi are done with meticulous work.

Prasad Moorella's has presented every frame lavishly and it looks colorfully serene. Lighting effects and silhouette in some scenes, along with visuals of actions parts has been done well. Action scenes directed by Ram-Lakshman; AS Prakash's art work, MR Varma's editing all stand as pillars to bring "king' to new heights. The final lag in the film should have been trimmed a little and if the editor has made it taut, it would have been appreciable.

Director's portrayal

Sreenu Vaitla with entertainment as his sole property has made 'King' appropriately. The movie with unpredictable twists thoroughly entertained the audience. In his best area comedy, Sreenu has bough in Nagarjuna's style of action and churned out a entertaing movie that has been seasoned with twists and turns. Again, he has made evident that he's the only disparate director who could bring out a movie like this.

Critcism

In a focused idea to entertain in and outm 'King' is made. With an exception of few pit stops that slows the narration towards the end along with the missing of few logical questions, the movie in a nutshell is a 'King Size Entertainer' for Nag's fans this year. Surely, Nagarjuna's December sentiment is going to be made evident in 'King' once again. The making value for SivaPrasad Reddy's banner is also on the raise this time.
